Since the release of We Need to Talk: A BIPOC Guide to Healing Ourselves, in 2020, we have hosted several virtual discussion groups using this guide. We Need to Talk was created exclusively for BIPOC to center BIPOC voices in the conversation around dismantling white supremacy and the work of collective healing.

Our discussion groups offer BIPOC the chance to have essential conversations around issues of race and the impact it has on ourselves, our communities and our faith. Chris U. from Texas shares about the impact from our latest group that just wrapped up in early December!

“Absolutely Necessary”

From Chris U. in Texas

Be The Bridge’s BIPOC curriculum, We Need To Talk, is mind blowing, informative and a much needed discussion within our BIPOC anti-racism community. So much emphasis has been made on educating whites on the impact of systemic racism in America. But this forum opened my eyes to see the impact of American racism within my own race and other races as well.

The sessions on Internalized Racism and Interracial Prejudice uncovered some long buried wounds and biases within me that God clearly wanted to bring to the surface. These and other topics were uncomfortable yet absolutely necessary for my own introspection and continued growth.

I am thankful that I took part in the Fall 2021 online group for We Need To Talk and I recommend it for all of our BIPOC bridge-builders. May your eyes be opened as mine were.
